    Thermoclines

    Hi All,
Can you describe to me how a thermocline appears on the sounder screen? Do you need to have sensitvity wound right up?

Certainly no expert but yes, turn sensitivity up and it should appear as a clear defined line running across the whole screen.

Send The Matrix (Jas) a PM as he will give you more accurate info.

Alot depends on the sounder your using the continual line you see on your sounder is actually the algae that hangs on the thermacline this is why is it will appear as different colors depending on how thick the algae is . Nornmaly if you have to increase the sensitivity to much you will have a hard time defining what else is down there you may have to adjust clutter. if the algae is not thick enough to show up then the chances of bait fish feeding off it become more remote and this is what attracks the big fish ie the barra. cheers

Thermoclines can been seen in saltwater as well, without the algae of freshwater situations. Again, depending on your sounder.
