Ordinary in the Ross River

Went for a run this morning with a mate in his boat in the Ross River. We were hoping to get out the front and chase some of the mackeral that have been kicking around, but the wind had other ideas. It decided to be blowing 20knot winds and choppy as buggery

So instead, we hung around inside the Ross River. We fished down near the mouth for a while, and got stuck into heaps of Grunter & Trevally plus a lonely Sickle Fish. All of them were undersize, so they all went back.

After a while, moved to the rock wall at the mouth for some bouncing around in the swell, and a couple of barely legal Bream, undersize Moses Perch, and a just under Estuary Cod.

Moved to a different spot in the river further up, and got a nice Bream. Couple more just unders, Trevally & little Grunter followed before we moved up a side creek for lure casting. Nothing biting or bumping, so we headed up river to chase Flathead.

30 minutes up there, the weather moving in, and not so much as a bite, we called it a day. Crappy day to be out, but we were out none-the-less. Learnt some more about the area, and a few little fishy spots.

dan, on the way out that big sand bar on the right side has a big hole 5mtrs deep have got some big queenies there plus some unstopables, just after the last trawler jetty there is rocks (like beside the boat ramp) & just before the police boat some good lumps in a hole is there got fingermark, grunter, jacks & bream. nothing o/s but good fun for the kids & a feed. sounds like u & your mate had a ball anyway catching a few fish.

Ronnien your a wealth of knowledge today, never thought of the hole at the fron there. Most of the big bream are taken at night on the Ross Rock Wall, peeled prawn, no sinker is the go and just lob them in the wash around the rocks.

Some fishin is better than none and none is what I have been doing lately. Still the Reno's around home are coming along nicely and once done, we might just have to have a Meet and Greet Meeting at the Sportsman Bar under the house (30% completed do date, but gaining speed)....
